Prophet Samuel anointed Saul as the King in Israel. The latter eered. The kingdom was taken from him and given to David.

However,Samuel kept mourning in sympathy of Saul.He couldn’t afford to let Saul go like that.

If we were in his shoes,we would have done the same especially considering the fact that Samuel was the one that introduced him to the Israelites, anointed him as the first king and gave him the last instruction that led to his downfall.

No true leader would want his ‘son’ to go into oblivion like that.

But God had to caution His prophet who obeyed the voice of God by looking in the direction of an open door:

“Now the LORD said to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go; I am sending you to Jesse the Bethlehemite. For I have provided myself a king among his sons.””1 Sam 16:1

The lesson here is simple:

When a door closes,it is a waste of time mourning over it!Don’t get depressed over a closed door because when you do,you won’t be able to see a better door that is opened to you.

Like Samuel,learn to move on!
