As I began my personal Bible study this morning,my attention was drawn to this scripture:”Those whose names were not found in the Book of Life were thrown into the fiery lake.”-Rev 20:15

I asked myself these two sincere questions:

1)Is my name in the  Book of life,as in : Temitope Boluwarin Ajimuda?

Is your name there too? That is the most important question in life.See,it is not: Are you born again? Are you a worker in God’s vineyard? Are you Spirit filled? Are you a minister? Do you speak in tongue? Or Can you cast out demons? The most crucial and fundamental question we all need to answer now is:Is my name in the book of Life?

Jesus told His disciple this: “However, don’t be happy that evil spirits obey you. Be happy that your names are written in heaven.”-Luke 10:20

Is it possible to know if your name is there? Yes! Paul mentioned some people whose names are in the Book of Life:“Yes, I also ask you, Syzugus, my true partner, to help these women. They fought beside me to spread the Good News along with Clement and the rest of my coworkers, whose names are in the Book of Life.”-Phil 4:3. What are the names of these people: “Syzugus” “these women”, ” Clement”,”the rest of my coworkers”.Paul couldn’t list the names of some of them for whatever reason but God kept their records! It is not whether you are popular in the church,or known by the Pastor. It is about God knowing you.Is your name in the Book of Life?

2)Should I wait till names in this Book of life are being read in  Heaven before I know if my name is there or not?

I remember one of my senior colleagues while I was in the medical school gave me this piece of advice before I wrote my first professional exam: ‘Examine yourself before the invigilator examines you.Check whether you mistakenly put your jottings or anything that can incriminate you inside your pocket before you are called in for your paper’.That advice is golden.

Let me explain further by shedding light on three key words in this topic:Assumption, Verification and Confirmation

Assumption:Occurs when a thing is accepted as true or as certain to happen, without proof:

Assumption is the mother of all failures. The issue of where you are going to spend eternity should not be based on assumption! Let me show you an example of people who assume their salvation and end up in Hell:”Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name. But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.” Too late for them! But not too late for you now.If you are not sure of your salvation, repent of your sins now. You can fool everybody except these two:God and Yourself!

Verification:Testing/examining the truth or accuracy of something:You have some doubts about the truth, therefore, you double check!

Verification exercise involves two personalities: You and God.My senior colleague advised me to first check myself to see if I have any thing that can incriminate me:“Examine yourselves to see whether you are still in the Christian faith. Test yourselves! Don’t you recognize that you are people in whom Jesus Christ lives? Could it be that you’re failing the test?”-2 Cor. 13:5.

You don’t want to get to heaven and discover you are doomed!

The second angle to this verification is when you allow God(the invigilator) to search you NOW before entering the Hall of Judgement! David said something about this:”Examine me, O God, and know my mind. Test me, and know my thoughts.See whether I am on an evil path. Then lead me on the everlasting path.”-Psalm 139:23-24

Confirmation:It is the reassurance of believed(verified) statement. You have proven something to be true but you still double check to “fulfill all righteousness”

Now that you are sure your name is written in the Book of Life, you need daily assurance/affirmation.This comes through the help of the Holy Spirit:

“For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children”-ROM 8:16.

Do you know that the children of God do not need to get to Heaven to confirm if  their names are in the Book of Life? If your name is written in the Book of Life, the Spirit of God in you can tell you now!

Don’t assume your name is in the Book of life. Verify and Confirm Your Name Now!!! Hell is as real as Heaven!

Remain blessed and rapturable.
