The making of an exceptional leader…(1)

One of the exceptional leaders in the Bible will be the focus of this series.

Moses,in the first 40 years of his life, was trained in the palace of Pharaoh:

“So Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was powerful in speech and action”-Act 7:22

During that phase of his life,he got to know he wasn’t an Egyptian. He also learnt that his people, the Israelites, were slaves in Egypt.

So,he thought God must have planned his life to rescue his people.

Yes,he was right in a way but as far as God was concerned,Moses was not ready for that leadership role.

Nevertheless,he travelled down to see his people one day and the following event happened:

“Now when he was forty years old,it came into his heart to visit his brethren, the children of Israel. He saw an Egyptian mistreating an Israelite. So Moses came to the man’s defense and avenged him, killing the Egyptian.”-Acts 7:23-24

Points to note:

1)God loves to prepare leaders in secretive and ‘coded’ ways. They are trained subtly far away from the public eyes.

2)God is never in a hurry to prepare exceptional leaders for as long as they end up being square pegs in square holes.

3)Don’t be in a hurry to ‘work for God’…The mindset of ‘if God doesn’t send me,I will send myself’ can be disastrous!
