Sometimes ago I had a conversation with a professional in a popular bottling company. He told me about aspartame and how it is used in diet cokes.
What piqued my interest was the expression he used to describe aspartame:’sweet-bitter’.
He said it is so sweet that it leaves a bitter aftertaste.
I digged further to know more about this sweetener whose nature is paradoxical:
Aspartame is an artificial sweetener used in place of sugars in some beverages and food.It is preferred to table sugar because of its low calorie.
Research shows that aspartame is about 200 times sweeter than table sugar. However,it sometimes leaves a bitter aftertaste!
Aspartame’s sweet nature reminds me of the nature of God’s words:
“How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!”-Psalm 119:103
Yes, God’s words are sweet. They are even sweeter than both honey and aspartame! However, that is one aspect of God’s words.
The next post looks at the second nature of God’s words…
